Shaq, I dont think Xtina sings what her fans want her to sing, she sings what she wants. if she likes the style of A song for u, she'll keep it no matter what fans like. After all Stripped was totally different from her debut album n then she just got new fans or it was her fans who had to adapt, grow or whatever you wanna call it. Shes got millions, I don't think at this point the cds she sells will make any difference.

You can absolutely dislike the song, but you're a grown up you should know better that no personal opinion will change her mind.

The reason why alot of fans are not going to like the music is because they wish to stick to the predictable, safe overdone type of music that is around them everyday. They refuse to open up to different kind of music so therefore it sounds bad to them. I was the same way when I first listened to jazz. I made faces at it with disgust. But then I took a jazz class, opened my mind to different styles of jazz such as swing, be bop, fusion and many others. I learned to develope my own likes and dislikes but only after giving everything an honest open minded chance. Jazz is the most skillfull and complex form of musical composition of our time, in fact it is considered art more than music because of the serious composition, even mathmatical knowledge and ability to go outside the boundaries of safe music to impovise. But society in general has low expectations in media and short attention spans. This is why they cant get into a song more than 4 or 5 minutes long. the general human attention span is only 3 and a half minutes. when alot of jazz pieces can last anywhere from 6 to 20 some minutes. Also society is drawn into that predictable cliched format of verse chorus verse chorus, bridge chorus, which rarely applies to jazz. Jazz is mostly improviation which means the artist does have a background melody that stays constant but they often compose as they play on the spot which takes alot of skill.

Herbie Hancock is one of the greatest jazz musicians alive. He came about during what was known as Jazz fusion around the 60s and 70s. Fusion meant that jazz was starting to mix with other sounds like rock, blues, and soul. Herbie brought his background of urban beats and an almost hip hop esk sound to jazz and pretty much paved the way for hip hop later to come. You could hear this in his earliest works and you can hear it in the awsome beat of a song for you. He is a great musician who has mastered many instruments and music composition all together. Its a shame more people cant understand the true beauty of jazz or appreciate it because they are so driven by the safe and simple ways of society.

My opinion of this song was that the piano work was excellent, the beat was perfect and exactly what i was looking for. If anything I felt Christina made it less than as good as it could be. It seemed she often switched from minor to major keys, from dark and soulful vocals to light and happy ones which bothered me. I had hoped for a more dark conistant theme such as walk away or heck even impossible. But she seemed a bit to light at times. I also think she overdid it with the improv singing, the ohhs and ahhs when Id rather listen to the music without her voice in those parts, they were just so "filler" it was unappealing to me. But besides that i love the song and its pretty much everything I was looking forward to and it really excites me for the next album.
